ReferLocal is a local / mobile e-commerce company that serves hundreds of thousands of customers in over 100 markets across the United States.

Following APPEK’s design strengths, the ReferLocal e-commerce app supplies customers with a streamlined way to: view a featured local daily deal; browse deals by category; and purchase deals they want – all while on the go!

Based out of Wilkes-Barre, Pa., ReferLocal is a local / mobile e-commerce company that serves hundreds of thousands of customers in over 100 markets across the United States. ReferLocal includes a consumer and merchant app on iOS and Android.  The consumer app includes content and product inventory geo-targeted by the location of the user. The merchant app allows businesses to easily redeem vouchers and track sales.

The Challenge

 

ReferLocal needed a mobile commerce solution that allowed customers to always pull the most geographically relevant content and products. Live in over 100 markets that included businesses such as casinos, restaurants, and entertainment, ReferLocal needed a solution that allowed multiple markets to work together to maximize the amount of content and product available. The solution also needed to provide the customer with the most personalized experience possible, and needed the ability for participating merchants to easily redeem vouchers and track sales.

The Solution

 

APPEK built consumer and merchant apps on IOS and Android that created a personalized user experience and drove social shares and sales. The apps allowed users to find deals and products that they were most likely to find relevant.

At the same time, the apps allowed the user to navigate and peruse products and deals from around the United States. For instance, the app allowed a customer in Northeastern, Pa., to purchase a deal at a local casino. That customer can then travel to a place like Disney World in Orlando, and quickly find content and products geographically relevant to them. This functionality resulted in a significant uptick in revenue and customers for ReferLocal.

The Results

 

ReferLocal has generated millions of dollars in revenue through its mobile applications. Because the app was built across both iOS and Android it has received significant adoption from the ReferLocal database and currently account for nearly 50 percent of overall sales. ReferLocal has been featured in hundreds of local and National TV, radio, and newspaper outlets around the United States from Baltimore, Maryland, to San Antonio, Texas, and everywhere in between.
