Quick History of APPEK Mobile Apps
Nearly 5 years ago two Penn State Students Adam Ceresko and Andrew Herman moved from State College, PA to Scranton, PA to join a technology incubator called the Scranton Enterprise Center.
While engineering Students in Penn State’s College of Engineering Adam and Andrew created apps for IOS and Android that provided real-time bus information for the Centre Area Transportation Authority (CATA). The app helped Penn State’s 20,000+ on-campus students better understand where buses were at any given moment so the student (or State College resident) didn’t have to stand out in the rain or in the snow waiting for a bus.
That was 8 years ago and the CATA App designed by APPEK remains in use by nearly 12,000 students and local residents every day.
Upon entering the Scranton Enterprise Center Adam and Andrew were introduced to lots of local entrepreneurs and public officials, but no meeting had more influence over the direction of the company than a 2010 meeting with Wilkes Barre based entrepreneur Kristopher Jones of KBJ Capital. Kris earned “fame” as the founder and former CEO of digital marketing company Pepperjam, which he built into one of the Nation’s leading technology businesses and later sold it to eBay (NASDAQ – EBAY).
Adam and Andrew hit it off with Kris and the three joined forces as equal partners and founders.
Kris did, however, require a slight adjustment in the vision that Adam and Andrew had for the company. Instead of solely focusing on the CATA App (Kris didn’t see the larger picture of scaling the app Nationally) the partners focused on building a mobile app development company focused on building extraordinary apps for funded start-ups and enterprise businesses. As an investor Kris knew first hand that there was a major supply – demand discrepancy between high end mobile app solutions providers and need for mobile app development.
A key to the new company – named APPEK Mobile Apps – was that it wouldn’t only build apps for others, but would also use positive cash flow to incubate ideas the partners had. That idea served the company well as they went on to build multiple apps that received wide acclaim, including Face Invaders, A/B testing platform Pathmapp, and the widely famous “selfie app turned art marketplace” French Girls App.
Despite carving out a niche for funded start-ups and enterprise businesses APPEK has built apps for companies of all sizes. The company has achieved a nearly perfect score from clients reviews (4.9 out of 5) and has become known as a company with an excellent design and development team.
Moreover, APPEK doesn’t only build apps.
Sister company LSEO.com provides a full range of digital marketing solutions, including mobile app marketing. APPEK can help you generate organic and paid installs and deploy an effective marketing campaign.
Because of the companies roots as a start-up and also because of Kris’ continued involvement in the company (now as CEO) the company is able to provide advisory services on everything from raising capital to deciding on the most appropriate strategy to build an app that your users love.
